Our Guide to Creating a luxurious master bedroom
Creating a luxurious master bedroom involves careful attention to design, materials, and ambience; after all we spend about 26 years of our life in our bedrooms – Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you design a stunning and indulgent space:
1. Choose a Sophisticated Colour Palette
- Stick to calming, neutral, or rich tones like soft grey, taupe, ivory, navy, deep green, or jewel tones (emerald, sapphire).
- Incorporate metallic accents (gold, silver, or bronze) for a touch of elegance.
- Use delicate wall coverings, not bold, and always add a touch of fun colour to your bed.
2. Invest in a Statement Bed
- Opt for a super king or king-size bed with a high-quality upholstered or tufted headboard.
- Ideally that headboard would be tailor made and run floor to ceiling
- Use luxury linens with high thread counts (500+) and add plush bedding such as a quilt, duvet, or comforter.
- Layer with textured throws, accent pillows, and Euro shams for added opulence.
- Aspire’s choice of mattress is Tempur – to own one is to believe

3. Upgrade Flooring and Rugs
- Choose hardwood, marble, or laminate flooring for sophistication.
- Add a large, soft area rug under the bed for warmth and comfort—preferably in a neutral or patterned design.
4. Layer Lighting for Atmosphere
- Use a chandelier or pendant light as a centre piece for grandeur.
- Incorporate dimmable bedside table lamps or wall sconces for a cosy glow.
- Add LED strip lighting behind furniture or along architectural features for subtle elegance.
5. Add a Sitting Area
- If space allows, include a seating nook with a chaise lounge, armchairs, or a small sofa.
- Place a small coffee table or ottoman to enhance functionality.
6. Include Statement Furniture and Decor
- Use sleek, modern dressers, nightstands, and benches with clean lines or metallic hardware.
- Add a floor-to-ceiling mirror or an ornate decorative mirror to make the room feel larger.
7. Focus on Window Treatments
- Use layered window treatments such as blackout curtains with sheer drapes for elegance and functionality.
- Choose rich materials like silk, velvet, or linen.

8. Bring in Textures and Materials
- Mix materials like velvet, silk, leather, and wood to add depth.
- Use accent pieces like faux fur throws or textured wall coverings for a luxurious feel.
9. Incorporate Personal Touches
- Display curated artwork, sculptures, or family photos in sophisticated frames.
- Add a gallery wall or oversized artwork for visual interest.
10. Focus on Clutter-Free Elegance
- Include built-in storage or furniture with hidden compartments to maintain a clean, serene look.
- Keep nightstands organised with trays, books, or a small vase of fresh flowers.
11. Use Technology Thoughtfully
- Install smart features like motorised curtains, adjustable lighting, or built-in sound systems for a modern touch.
- Hide TVs behind custom cabinetry or artwork for a seamless aesthetic.
12. Enhance with Fragrance and Greenery
- Place a subtle diffuser or scented candles in calming scents like lavender, sandalwood, or vanilla.
- Add a few indoor plants or fresh flowers for a pop of life and colour.
